What is the SAP process?
Employees in a DOT safety-sensitive position who violate DOT drug and alcohol testing rules must meet with a qualified Substance Abuse Professional and complete the SAP process before returning to safety-sensitive duties.
Initial evaluation
Meet with Sonya for your initial SAP session. An evaluation letter goes to your referral source or employer.
Recommendations
Receive education and/or treatment recommendations, with referrals to appropriate resources.
Follow-up evaluation
After completing recommendations, return for a follow-up session and evaluation letter with your testing schedule.
Return to duty
Your Clearinghouse status is updated to “Ready for Return to Duty,” if applicable.
Complete SAP process
Not covered by insurance. Accepted payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, debit cards, and cash. See Fees & Insurance.
The fee includes
- Initial session and evaluation letter to your referral source or employer
- FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse status update for the incident, if applicable
- Treatment recommendations and/or referrals to other resources
- Follow-up session and evaluation letter, with testing schedule, to your referral source or employer
- Clearinghouse update to “Ready for Return to Duty”
- Electronic copy of your letters for your files
Please note: The fee does not include any cost related to referral sources, including treatment costs, and is not covered by insurance. The fee may increase due to lack of completion or follow-up.
