Therapy
Who does Sonya work with, and what ages?
Therapy is for adults 18 and older. Sonya has experience with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance use, and gender dysphoria. She is affirming of LGBTQ+ clients and also serves Veterans through The Headstrong Project.

Is Sonya gender affirming?
Yes. Sonya specializes in gender-affirming therapy and is a WPATH Certified Clinician for SOC 8, with experience writing WPATH letters for gender-affirming surgery. SGA Services Texas, LLC is a Safe Zone. Learn more on the Gender Affirming Therapy page.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a chance to get to know each other. You’ll talk about what brought you in, your background, your concerns, and your goals. There’s no pressure — any treatment plan is created together with you.
Insurance & Fees
Does Sonya accept insurance?
Yes, for therapy. Accepted plans:
- Aetna
- BlueCross BlueShield
- Cigna
- Medicare
- United / Optum
- UT – EAP
SAP and DUI/DWI evaluation fees are not covered by insurance and are paid out of pocket.
How much is therapy without insurance?
Therapy is typically $150–$175 per session, depending on the service. All clients receive a Good Faith Estimate, as required by law.
Accepted payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash, HSA cards (therapy only), and debit cards (SAP and evaluations).

DOT SAP Evaluations
What is a SAP evaluation?
A Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is a clinician designated under U.S. Department of Transportation rules to evaluate employees who have violated DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations. The SAP recommends education and/or treatment and determines when the employee is ready to return to a safety-sensitive position.
Is Sonya a qualified DOT SAP?
Yes. Sonya holds the Qualified SAP (QSAP) credential along with her LCSW-S and LCDC licenses. Full details are on the DOT / SAP Info page.
What’s included in the SAP process?
The $550 SAP fee includes:
- Initial evaluation, with a letter to your referral source or employer
- Clearinghouse update, if applicable
- Treatment and/or education recommendations and referrals
- Follow-up session, with a letter that includes your return-to-duty testing schedule
- Updating your Clearinghouse status to “Ready for Return to Duty”
- Electronic copies of all letters
The fee does not include the cost of any referred treatment or education. SAP fees are not covered by insurance.
