My journey in the mental health field began in 2000 when I became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). After earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown, I went on to complete a Master of Social Work at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work in 2009. I have extensive experience working with individuals facing mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and bipolar disorder. I utilize evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support clients in managing and healing from mental health challenges.

I bring extensive experience supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system, including work with incarcerated clients at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office County Jail. I have also provided care for individuals with substance use disorders while managing outpatient treatment services at local nonprofit agencies. My background includes clinical roles in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric hospital settings, as well as serving as a Clinical Team Leader at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD. Through these roles, I have developed expertise in crisis intervention and psychotherapeutic treatment for clients facing complex mental health challenges.

I have worked with the LGBTQ+ community since 1991 when I volunteered as an HIV educator conducting pre and post-test counseling for persons who tested for HIV at Legacy Community Clinic (formerly The Montrose Clinic). Starting in 2007, I provided substance abuse treatment for LGBQT+ clients through a Federally Qualified Health Center. As a Therapist, I have provided services for transgender clients on their journey to present as their authentic self, through individual sessions and group therapy. I am a member of WPATH and WPATH SOC 8 Certified Therapist.
